Carney Architects Announces New Ownership

Founding principal John Carney is pleased to announce that Kevin Burke and Eric Logan have become principals at Carney Architects. Established in 1992 with a vision of using thoughtful design to enhance communities, Carney Architects has expanded in size and scope, with projects throughout the Rocky Mountain West. The new leadership structure retains and strengthens the firm’s commitment to community enrichment through conscientious, innovative architectural practice.

Kevin Burke is responsible for managing the business and for ensuring that all projects meet the highest technical standards. After graduating in 1990 from the School of Architecture at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island, Kevin honed his skills in Idaho and Wyoming at several firms specializing in commercial and custom residential projects. He brought his expertise in project management and building science to Carney Architects in 1999 and was made Associate in 2003.

Eric Logan oversees the design process for all of the firm’s projects, and under his direction the design team has received numerous honors, including a national Award of Merit from the Residential Architect Design Awards program for the 2005 Wine Silo project. After graduating with a Master of Architecture degree from Arizona State University in 1991, Eric moved to Denver where he engaged in loft building renovations as part of the city’s endeavor to revitalize its urban center. He returned to his home state to join Carney Architects in 1995 and was made Associate in 2002.

Since its inception Carney Architects has completed a wide range of residential, community, and commercial projects, from resort developments to church, library, and high school buildings. Social and civic values are central to founding principal John Carney’s work and in addition to his leadership role within the firm, he actively engages local positions of responsibility through which he can contribute his architectural experience to planning and sustainability initiatives.

Named 2004 Firm of the Year by the Wyoming Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Carney Architects continues to strive for responsive, relevant, and environmentally sound building solutions that speak to their time and place. A new interpretive center in Grand Teton National Park exemplifies the firm’s commitment to sustainable design. The project anticipates a Platinum rating from the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program (LEED) and will play a key role in promoting environmental stewardship.
