Alpine Master Plan
Alpine, Wyoming
Completion Date: 2003
This master plan organizes a 104-acre site adjacent to the town of Alpine in Lincoln County. Situated along the Snake River, it provides 425 residential units in mixed densities, and six acres of commercial space. Twenty-two acres of public open space and bike paths were carefully designed to filter through the development, encouraging non-motorized transport to the “Park & Ride_ transport hub that would service Jackson and other towns.
The organizational framework of the plan follows models of “New Urbanism," and is a grid system of streets and blocks that are internally served by alleys. At the center of the grid is a ten-acre public park, and diagonal corridors of open space with bike paths radiating outwards towards all four corners of the project. High-density housing is grouped around the central park, while lower density, single family lots are pushed out to the edge of the project to mesh with the existing extent of development. Commercial property is located adjacent to the main access road.
