Blair Affordable Housing
Jackson, Wyoming
Completion Date: 2005
This affordable housing project is located just outside of downtown Jackson, Wyoming, in Cottonwood Park, an existing planned neighborhood that is in close proximity to schools, pathways, parks and services. The goal was to produce a high-quality housing project, which is livable, attractive and an asset to the owners and the community. There are 36 deed-restricted affordable homes on 3.1 acres of existing commercially zoned property within the Cottonwood Park master planned area. The project includes a transit bus stop shelter, separated sidewalks, full landscaping and a common open space with an active play area.
The architecture of the modular buildings is borrowed from familiar western vernacular ranch structures. The one, two and three bedroom buildings are characterized by front porches with shed roofs seen against two-story volumes, capped by gable roof forms. Each home has a private driveway, an attached one-car garage, covered and uncovered outdoor space, and access to natural light and views on three exposures.
