Central Wyoming College Health & Science Center
Riverton, WY
Completion Date: 2013
In collaboration with Anderson Mason Dale Architects, the new Central Wyoming College Health and Science Center will provide approximately 52,000 SF of new space for the nursing and science departments. It will help define a new face for the campus by being sited at the edge of the entry drive, yet at the same time being integrated with the existing architectural geometry.
There are three primary program spaces: a large auditorium at one end, a lab and classroom component in the middle, and a faculty office wing at the other end. The divisions between the three elements are made within by the circulation and entry components. From the exterior, the auditorium end is separated visually from the rest of the program by the two-story entry component that will act as a beacon for the building. All of the exterior materials will blend in harmoniously with the existing context through color and texture. An exterior portico ties the existing and new pathways together while at the same time providing beneficial wind protection that is needed for this particular place.
