Crescent H Residence
Wilson, Wyoming
Completion Date: In Design
This 9,000 sf residence was designed for a couple from the West Coast who plan to use Wyoming as a summer home and winter playground for their young family.
The site encompasses 70 acres of flat, riparian wetlands and cottonwood groves adjacent to the Snake River, roughly 15 miles southeast of the Town of Jackson. An extensive site analysis led to the choice of a building site nestled against the edge of the cottonwood trees and between two spring creeks that form a peninsula on which the house would sit. A system of old stream channels flows through this part of the site and have a major effect on the organization of the house.
The architectural solution for the house uses the building to filter, control, and enhance the varied experiences available in this unique place. The program is organized in public, semi-public, and private building clusters anchored to an L-shaped circulation spine with each individual building serving as a special place in the compound.
The architecture is characterized by protective concrete walls with openings located and sized to enhance a specific site experience.
