Bear Creek Office & Residence
Jackson, Wyoming
Completion Date: 2000
Bear Creek Inc. is a family trust office that relocated to Jackson, Wyoming. The program requirements were to provide office space for six to eight employees, conference facilities for 12 during family meetings, and residential quarters with three bedroom suites and living space on the upper floor, to be shared by visiting family members.
The 7,000 sf building is located on a corner lot in town with convenient walking distance to town. The materials of the building are stone and cedar siding, with re-sawn timbers supporting the generous overhang of the roof. The dark bronze windows, exposed steel lintels, cut sandstone cladding above the stacked stone walls and copper roof bring another dimension to traditional western town materials. Inside, the timbers frame both floors, with log columns supporting the timbers. Fir paneling and doors, hickory floors, fir cabinets and custom iron and wood railings contribute to a welcoming, family office headquarters and retreat.
