Sotheby’s International Realty
Jackson, Wyoming
Completion Date: 1996
This project involved the conversion of a former local market, with an additional 5,000 sf of new construction on a prominent corner in downtown Jackson. The new and renovated building is the headquarters for Sotheby's International Realty (formerly Jackson Hole Realty). Located several blocks from the Town Square, its exterior design is intended to recall the rustic architecture of the National Parks buildings of nearby Grand Teton Park and Yellowstone.
In the interior, the original steel bowstring trusses of the former market are exposed, creating a contrast with the otherwise rustic materials. Natural light reaches the center work area through glass doors at each perimeter office, fostering communication and open exchange in this busy workplace.
