Varley Master Plan
Jackson, Wyoming
Completion Date: 2001
This master plan project transforms three underutilized lots within a quarter mile of Jackson_s town square into a vibrant, mixed use neighborhood with office and retail space, loft-type residential units, and affordable housing. A 106,000 sf hotel with meeting rooms, spa, pub, and restaurant is planned for the fourth block. All four blocks will provide structured underground parking.
The main goals that shaped the design are to provide significant public open space on each block, and to ensure compatibility with existing uses and scale. The resulting development is a positive contribution to the growth of the region. By giving density to the land within the town, the plan combats the tendency for sprawl. The design guidelines accompanying the plan advocate a combination of regionally proven methods of building and ecologically conscious design.
